Eurovision 2027 Burgas Itinerary: A Day-by-Day Schedule

Eurovision is never just a single evening concert. The world's biggest music competition is an endurance marathon consisting of nine ticketed shows spread across six days. The rhythm is intense: two live semi-finals separated by rest days, culminating in the Grand Final on Saturday night.

Those built-in pauses are what make Burgas work as a host city. A 5 km Sea Garden, four coastal towns within a 45-minute drive, and salt lagoons on the city's edge give the free days somewhere to go. This is our day-by-day plan for the week.

📅 When to Book and How Many Days to Stay?

Our top piece of advice based on firsthand experience: book your accommodation right now, months before tickets are even released. Hotel beds in the city are vastly outnumbered by arena seats.

To get the most out of contest week, choose one of these three trip durations:

1. The Full Immersion: 7 Nights (Monday, May 10 – Monday, May 17) Covers everything — both semi-finals, free days for beach trips and exploration, the Grand Final, and an unhurried departure on Monday.
2. The Long Weekend: 4 Nights (Thursday, May 13 – Monday, May 17) The optimal balanced option. Arrive Thursday for the Second Semi-Final, keep Friday for recovery and fan zones, watch the Grand Final on Saturday, and head home Monday.
3. The Grand Final Express: 3 Nights (Friday, May 14 – Monday, May 17) Strictly for those focused only on the final weekend. Keep in mind this covers the most expensive and crowded days of the week.

⚠️ Golden Rule: Avoid booking flights on Sunday (May 16). Airports and highways will face severe gridlock as thousands of fans attempt to leave simultaneously just hours after the show.

🚗 Transport, Tickets & Parking: What You Need to Know

If you are planning to drive or rent a car, keep these logistics in mind:

• Parking Near Arena Burgas: During Eurovision week, vehicle access around the venue will be heavily restricted due to the massive television production. Do not rely on the arena's on-site parking. The smartest move is to park in the Blue or Green zones in central Burgas (approx. €1/hour) and take a city bus or walk to the Izgrev district.
• Show Tickets: The first waves of ticket sales are expected in late 2026. Keep an eye on official channels and make sure to pre-register through the EBU's official Eurofan platform. Avoid unauthorized third-party resellers!

👨‍👩‍👧 Is This Itinerary Suitable for Families with Kids?

If you are travelling with children, the free days do most of the work: short distances, the Sea Garden, and city beaches within walking range of the centre.

However, you must be realistic about the evening schedule: live shows start at 22:00 and feature intense sound design, pyrotechnics, and massive crowds. They are definitely not suitable for young children. For a wonderful family experience, we strongly recommend buying tickets for the afternoon preview shows (Family Shows), which offer the exact same production value at a much more child-friendly hour and at a lower price point.

🛬 Days 1–2: Arrival & First Semi-Final (May 10–11)

Monday (May 10) is your transition day. After checking into your hotel, take a leisurely walk from the city center through the Sea Garden out to the Burgas Pier. It is the quickest way to get the layout of the city and work out where you will eat.

Tuesday (May 11) brings the first major wave of excitement — The First Semi-Final (starting at 22:00).

Structure your day backward from showtime. Since you'll want to arrive at Arena Burgas at least 90 minutes early to clear security smoothly, plan an early dinner. Keep daytime activities light to conserve your energy for the long night ahead. Know your return transport plan before you even step out the door.

☀️ Day 3: The First Free Day (Wednesday, May 12)

Wednesday features no evening television broadcasts, making it the premier day for a scenic coastal excursion:

• To the North: Nessebar. Just a 40-minute bus ride brings you to an ancient UNESCO-protected peninsula. Morning coffee amidst cobbled streets and medieval Byzantine churches is an absolute must.
• To the South: Sozopol. Situated 45 minutes away, this ancient seaside town charms visitors with Revival-era wooden architecture, dramatic coastal cliffs, and fresh seafood.

Our Tip: Pick just one destination for the day so you can enjoy it slowly and fully before heading back to Burgas for a relaxed evening stroll.

🎤 Day 4: Second Semi-Final (Thursday, May 13)

Thursday is Second Semi-Final night. If you have arena tickets, your rhythm mirrors Tuesday: a peaceful morning, a light seaside lunch, and an early evening trip to the venue.

If you don't have tickets for the live broadcast, head to the Eurovision Village — an outdoor fan zone with big screens, street food and live performances, free to enter.

🏖️ Day 5: The Second Free Day (Friday, May 14)

With the massive Grand Final scheduled for Saturday, use Friday to recharge your batteries:

• Take a short 30-minute trip to Pomorie, famous for its healing mud baths and tranquil beaches.
• Visit the striking pink waters of Atanasovsko Lake right on the edge of Burgas to watch wild flamingos.
• Alternatively, stay in town, sip cocktails along the Sea Garden, and soak up the spring sun.

🎉 Fan Zones, EuroClub & Nightlife

🏆 Day 6: Grand Final Saturday (May 15)

Clear your schedule entirely! Do not plan long excursions or out-of-town trips on Saturday. Even a minor transit delay returning from the coast is a risk you shouldn't take on final day.

Remember that the Grand Final is essentially an all-nighter: a 22:00 start, roughly four hours of show and voting, and exiting the arena past 02:00 AM. Sleep in, take it easy, and treat Saturday afternoon as your preparation period.

🏆 Expect a 02:00+ Finish: Thousands of spectators will exit Arena Burgas simultaneously in the small hours, long after scheduled public buses stop running. Your return plan must be a walk or a pre-booked private transfer. There is no third option at that hour.

🧳 Day 7: Recovery & Departure (May 16–17)

Sunday (May 16) will be the single busiest travel day of the week across all regional transport hubs, and you will have gone to bed only hours earlier.

If your schedule allows, stay an extra night in Burgas through Monday, May 17. Remaining another day lets you recover properly, experience a quieter post-contest city, and take advantage of cheaper Monday airfares.
