Overview
Mestala does not require an account and does not sell or trade visitor data. This page explains what is collected, by whom, what cookies are set, and what your rights are.
What is and isn't collected
Mestala uses Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to understand site traffic and performance. Both are cookieless: they generate a daily-rotating hash from your IP address and user-agent string, and store no persistent identifiers. Aggregated data points include page paths, country, device type, browser, and Core Web Vitals timings. Separately, Mestala uses Google Analytics — but only after you accept cookies (see the Analytics and Cookies sections below). Mestala does not collect names, email addresses, raw IP addresses, browsing history outside Mestala, or advertising identifiers.
Third-party processors
Vercel Inc. (United States) processes hosting and cookieless-analytics data on Mestala's behalf as a sub-processor. If you accept analytics cookies, Google Ireland Ltd. processes Google Analytics data as a sub-processor. Analytics & Google Analytics
With your consent, Mestala loads Google Analytics 4 (gtag.js) to measure how visitors use the site — page views, clicks, site searches, and similar interactions — in aggregate. Google Analytics is loaded only after you click "Accept" on the cookie banner; if you decline, or have not yet chosen, it is never loaded and no Google Analytics cookies are set. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.
Cookies
When you make a choice on the cookie banner, Mestala stores a single first-party cookie (mestala_cookie_consent) to remember it for about six months; this cookie is strictly necessary to honour your decision. Mestala also stores a first-party functional cookie (NEXT_LOCALE) that remembers your chosen interface language (English or Bulgarian); it holds no personal data and, like the consent cookie, is strictly necessary to provide the language you selected, so it is not subject to the cookie banner. If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics sets its own cookies (such as _ga and _ga_*) to distinguish visitors and sessions; these are not set if you decline. The site also embeds OpenStreetMap tiles for the map view; tile servers may log IP addresses to deliver the tiles, governed by the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.
Your rights
Under GDPR (and the Bulgarian Personal Data Protection Act), you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data Mestala holds about you, and to withdraw your analytics consent at any time via the "Cookie settings" link in the footer. Because Mestala does not store personal data tied to identifiable individuals, most such requests will result in a confirmation that no data is held.
