Boykov peak (2,342 m) is the southernmost high summit on the main ridge of Northern Pirin. South of it the ridge drops sharply to Todorova polyana, the border with Middle Pirin; to the north a broad saddle links it to Hleven peak.
Legend says the hajduk Boyko was killed here fighting the Ottomans, so for a time the peak was called Boykov grob, Boyko's grave. People in the village of Pirin call it Cherniya vrah, the Black peak, because it is covered in dense dwarf pine. Some maps put the name, wrongly, on point 2044 in the Padaloto area.
Hut Malina (1,571 m) stands at its foot in the Dolen kaluger area and is the nearest starting point.

Late spring through early autumn (May–September) is best for Boykov peak, when trails are clear of snow and weather is most stable. Higher peaks may hold snow into June and see fresh snow as early as October. Winter visits are for experienced mountaineers with proper gear.
