Sreden Skakavets (2,711 m) is the highest of the five tops of the Skakavtsite group on the Skakavitsa ridge in Central Rila, inside the Central Rila Reserve. Golyam Skakavets is about 600 m to the south and Malak Skakavets about 700 m to the north.
Sources name the peaks in the group differently and sometimes give 2,711 m to Golyam Skakavets.
There is no marked path along the ridge. One described trip reached the group from the Tiha Rila area via Kobilino branishte on a barely visible path, then along cairns. There is no water on the ridge; the write-up recommends about four litres per person.

Late spring through early autumn (May–September) is best for Sreden Skakavets, when trails are clear of snow and weather is most stable. Higher peaks may hold snow into June and see fresh snow as early as October. Winter visits are for experienced mountaineers with proper gear.
