Kostenurkata (2,035 m), "the Tortoise", is a peak in the Kalofer mountain in the Central Balkan, inside Central Balkan National Park. The name comes from its shape: seen from the south, from hut Vasil Levski, it looks like a tortoise with its head out of its shell.
It stands east of Golyam Kupen, past the Krastsite massif (Malak and Golyam Krastets), on the ridge route from hut Dobrila to Botev peak. To the east is Zhaltets (2,227 m), and hut Vasil Levski is about 1.7 km south, down in the valley. On the west it is bounded by the so-called Vidima path, still used by shepherds.
Kostenurkata is part of the Kom – Emine traverse. In winter it is avalanche-prone and not recommended; for alpinists it is a grade IVb traverse.

Late spring through early autumn (May–September) is best for Kostenurkata, when trails are clear of snow and weather is most stable. Higher peaks may hold snow into June and see fresh snow as early as October. Winter visits are for experienced mountaineers with proper gear.
