The Ibisha Managed Reserve is one of the most vital wetland areas along the Danube River. Located on the eastern part of Tsibar Island, opposite the mouth of the Tsibritsa River, it hosts Bulgaria's largest mixed colony of cormorants and herons. Due to its unique flooded forests and marshes, Ibisha is of international importance for the conservation of rare and endangered bird species. Flora and Wildlife - Riverine Forests: The reserve features dense stands of black alder, white and brittle willow, and black poplar. The undergrowth is a lush tangle of blackberries and climbing lianas. - Ornithological Sanctuary: Ibisha is a globally significant nesting site for the Pygmy Cormorant. It also serves as one of the most critical habitats in Bulgaria for the Black-crowned Night Heron and the Eurasian Spoonbill.
