Golyama Strazha (2,799 m) is the last and northernmost summit of Strazhite, the sharp granite crest in Northern Pirin that runs from Polezhan peak towards Kaymakchal along the Polezhan side ridge. A long saddle links it to Kaymakchal.
North of the summit, in the Disilitsa cirque, lies Pleshivo lake (Lokvata), one of the highest lakes in Pirin and rarely visited because it is far from the usual routes. To the west the crest falls in vertical alpine walls to the Gazey lakes.
The nearest starting point is hut Demyanitsa. Climbing Golyama and Malka Strazha without proper alpine training is dangerous.

Late spring through early autumn (May–September) is best for Golyama Strazha, when trails are clear of snow and weather is most stable. Higher peaks may hold snow into June and see fresh snow as early as October. Winter visits are for experienced mountaineers with proper gear.
