Chakalitsa is a ridge in the south-western (Kapatnik) section of Rila, west of the Skachkovets massif. The "Chakalitsa" point is at 2,065 m, and the ridge's highest peak is 2,298 m. The ridge lies between the Rakovitsa valley to the south and the Slavova river valley to the north. Its crest is broad and rounded.
Chakalitsa hut is about 2 hours from the summit. Marked paths cross the ridge towards Blagoevgrad and the Makedonia, Predel and Dobarsko huts. Ismailitsa peak is about 2.3 km to the east, and the Parangalitsa reserve lies further on in the same direction.
Above the tree line the crest is open, with no water or shade, and fog makes navigation hard. The season is June to September.

Late spring through early autumn (May–September) is best for Chakalitsa, when trails are clear of snow and weather is most stable. Higher peaks may hold snow into June and see fresh snow as early as October. Winter visits are for experienced mountaineers with proper gear.
