The route climbs from Tsepina station on the Septemvri – Dobrinishte narrow-gauge railway to Fenera peak (1,460 m) on the Alabak ridge in the Western Rhodopes. It is about 4.9 km long and waymarked in blue.
The path leaves the station in the Chepino gorge and climbs mostly through forest. Below the summit, on a saddle at about 1,415 m, the blue waymarks meet the red ones, which lead to Ravno Bore hut and to Milevi Skali.
The stretch above the station climbs in zigzags, with open rocks and views over the Chepino gorge. The station itself opened in 1926 and was called Dorkovo until 1928. It has been an unstaffed halt since 2002, and since 2017 its building has housed a small house museum, open by prior arrangement. The area lies in the Yadenitsa Natura 2000 protected site.
The climb is steep, and hikers describe the stretch above the station as very steep. The path is mostly in forest, which gives shade in summer. Wear hiking boots. The station has no electricity or water, so start with full bottles.
Tsepina station is 14 km from Septemvri and 25 km from Velingrad along the narrow-gauge line; there is parking at the station. Trains are few, so check the timetable in advance.
