Prevala is a forested peak, 1,279 m high, in the Western Rhodopes, in Dospat municipality, Smolyan province: about 2 km west of the village of Chavdar and about 8 km south-east of Dospat as the crow flies. It is not the village of Prevala in north-west Bulgaria.
The starting point is the village of Chavdar. Sources do not describe a marked path to the top, so rely on a map or a GPS track, not signs. Leave the car in the village.
Easy to moderate, but unmarked. Navigation in the forest is hard, especially in fog. It suits a short walk if you are staying by the Dospat reservoir.

Late spring through early autumn (May–September) is best for Prevala, when trails are clear of snow and weather is most stable. Higher peaks may hold snow into June and see fresh snow as early as October. Winter visits are for experienced mountaineers with proper gear.
