The Peyo Yavorov House Museum is a memorial ensemble in central Chirpan devoted to the poet. It includes his birth house with its yard and a purpose-built exhibition hall. The museum is one of the 100 National Tourist Sites.
The birth house is modest, slightly raised above the ground, with a small porch, three rooms, a cellar and a well in the yard. The original furnishings of the kitchen, the guest room and the so-called "Peyo’s room" are preserved. The guest room is kept as the family arranged it to welcome Yavorov and his wife Lora in September 1913; it holds a portrait of Hadzhi Dimitar and Stefan Karadzha. The middle room belonged to his mother, Gana Kracholova.
Peyo’s room has the poet’s desk, on which his favourite book — Goethe’s "Faust" — lay, and his bed with metal railings. The exhibition hall shows photographs and belongings from his life and work. In the yard are a bust of Yavorov by Mara Georgieva and Ivan Lazarov’s sculpture "Mother Macedonia".
Yavorov was born in Chirpan on 1 January 1878 (13 January, New Style) and lived in the house until he was 17. The home drew admirers soon after his death: in 1924 Geo Milev urged the family to keep the rooms as they were. The house was declared a museum on 31 October 1954, and the exhibition hall opened in 1973.
