Rising majestically in the western part of the Balkan Mountains, Malak Kom (Small Kom) is one of the three peaks in the iconic Kom Ridge, part of the beautiful Montana region. At an altitude of 1916 meters, it is the smaller sibling to the dominant Golyama Kom (Big Kom) and Sreden Kom (Middle Kom), but it is by no means inferior in beauty or tourist appeal. The peak is easily accessible and offers breathtaking panoramic views, revealing the vastness of the mountain horizon. The ascent to Malak Kom is a true delight for nature lovers and hikers. The more popular route starts from Kom Hut, but it can also be reached from Petrohan Pass, offering a variety of well-marked trails suitable for both beginners and more experienced mountaineers. The peak itself is a significant part of the E3 international hiking route – "Kom-Emine," making it an essential stop for all who traverse the entire ridge of the Balkan Mountains. The atmosphere here is steeped in history and the spirit of adventure. From Malak Kom, incredible landscapes unfold – to the north, the eye reaches the vast Danube Plain, to the west, the peaks of Serbia stand out, and to the east, Golyama Kom and Sreden Kom are visible, as well as the endless folds of the Balkan Mountains. In spring, the slopes are covered with lush greenery and wildflowers, while in autumn, the forest is painted in golden and red hues, creating a perfect backdrop for unforgettable photos. This place is ideal for day trips, picnics amidst nature, and fully enjoying the clean mountain air and tranquility. Visit Malak Kom to feel the spirit of the mountain and recharge with energy and beauty.
