Tash Tepe (1,992 m) is a peak in the Bulgarian part of the Osogovo mountain, about 3.8 km north of Ruen, the highest summit; bg.wikipedia gives 1,993 m.
The peak lies west of the Ruen mine, above the valley of the Glavna river. After Osogovo's seven summits over 2,000 m, it is the eighth highest in the range.
The high parts of Osogovo are prone to avalanches. The worst known case came in March 1956: a huge avalanche broke away from Debeli Rid, a north-western spur of Shapka, and swept down the gully towards the Glavna valley, where workers were laying water pipes. After a month-long search the bodies of five of them were found on the opposite slope, below Tash Tepe, under 8–10 m of snow. We found no waymarked route to the summit itself in the sources.

Late spring through early autumn (May–September) is best for Tash Tepe, when trails are clear of snow and weather is most stable. Higher peaks may hold snow into June and see fresh snow as early as October. Winter visits are for experienced mountaineers with proper gear.
