The Nayden Gerov House is the National Revival figure’s birthplace in Koprivshtitsa. In front of it stands a bust of Nayden Gerov, made by Minkov in 1960.
Nayden Gerov (1823–1900) was a writer, linguist, folklorist and educator. In 1846 he founded Bulgaria’s first class school in Koprivshtitsa, and he later compiled the five-volume Dictionary of the Bulgarian Language. He was the eighth child of the cell-school teacher Gero Dobrovich-Mushek, the model for Karavelov’s character Hadzhi Gencho. We found no published information about an exhibition in the house, and it is not among the Koprivshtitsa Museum Directorate’s museums.
Check with the Museum Directorate whether the house can be visited inside.
