The path leads from Bashevo village to the medieval fortress of Krivus above the Arda river in the Rhodopes. It is marked in red and is about 2 km long.
From Bashevo, at about 720 m, the path descends west towards the fortress and the Arda valley, losing about 280 m of height. The way back is a climb along the same path.
Krivus was built in the 10th century to guard the land along the Arda. It stands on a modest height, but deep drops surround it on several sides, which made it hard to take. The fortress is mentioned in Byzantine chronicles. The medieval fortress of Patmos is also nearby.
A short walk, but steep on the way back. Carry water and shoes with good grip; there are sheer cliffs around the remains of the fortress.
Bashevo is in Ardino municipality, about 9 km north of Ardino and about 24 km west of Kardzhali.
