Soskovcheto is a reserve near Smolyan in the central Rhodopes, in the town's lands. It was declared on 28 March 1968 over 177.76 ha to preserve the natural state of an old spruce forest, its waterfalls and its climbing plants.
The reserve is small, but its forest is old and has barely been logged. Bears, roe deer, red deer and other forest animals live in it. The waterfalls on its streams are part of why the reserve was declared.
The forest is most pleasant from late spring to autumn. In winter the area is snowbound.

Suitability depends on the specific route. Bulgarian trails range from paved family-friendly paths to multi-day high-mountain crossings. Check the length, elevation gain, and surface before setting off. Sturdy footwear, water, and a basic map (offline or paper) are essential even on short walks.
