The trail from Tevno Ezero Hut to Begovishka Porta is one of the classic and exceptionally scenic routes in Northern Pirin, offering unforgettable views and a genuine mountain experience. Starting from the shores of the largest and deepest lake in Popov Circus, nestled at an impressive 2512 meters above sea level, the route heads west, unveiling breathtaking panoramas right from the start. The red-marked path begins with a gentle ascent over gradual slopes, revealing views towards Kralev Dvor and Malaka Kamenitsa peaks, whose rocky slopes rise majestically. As you climb, you'll feel the raw beauty of the alpine terrain, surrounded by characteristic high-mountain vegetation and the silence, broken only by the whistling wind or bird calls. After about an hour and a half to two hours of moderate hiking, including a few steeper sections, you reach the Begovishka Porta saddle, situated at approximately 2600 meters above sea level. From the Porta, a magnificent panorama unfolds that will leave you breathless – towards the wide cirque of Banderishki Lakes, the jagged peaks of Tipitsite, the powerful silhouette of Jano Peak, as well as the distant folds of the Begovitsa River valley. This is a strategic junction from which numerous routes can be continued – to Begovitsa Hut, Vihren Hut, or to ascend peaks like Kamenitsa. The trek is of moderate to high difficulty but generously rewards with natural beauty and a sense of freedom. It requires good physical preparation and appropriate equipment, especially during the summer months when snowdrifts can persist late into the season. Immerse yourself in the wild nature and grandeur of Pirin!
