The path leads from Benkovski hut to Bratanitsa peak on the main ridge of the Balkan Mountains, in the Zlatitsa-Teteven mountain. It is about 3.5 km long and climbs about 450 m.
From the hut (1,540 m) the path climbs south to Bratanitsa peak at about 1,990 m. At the summit it meets the Kom – Emine ridge route. We found no waymark colour or walking time in the sources.
The hut stands at the foot of Malki Bratanishki Ushi peak. It was built in 1932 and was earlier called Bratanitsa and Vezhen. It has about 60 beds and is a reserve point of the European E3 route (Kom – Emine).
The climb is short, but the upper part is open and the weather there changes quickly. Bring windproof clothing and water.
The hut is reached on foot: from Ribaritsa in about 4 hours, from Anton village in about 4:45 hours, and from Koprivshtitsa station in about 5:30 hours. From Vezhen hut to Benkovski is about 2:30 hours.
