„Zliyat Zъb“ (The Evil Tooth), one of the most impressive and challenging peaks in the Rila Mountains, although not directly within the administrative boundaries of the Kyustendil region, is often associated with it due to access points to the western part of the mountain. Rising to 2678 meters above sea level, this granite colossus, with its sharp, jagged ridge, fully justifies its formidable name. The peak is located in Northwestern Rila, in close proximity to the more famous Malyovitsa section, but offers a unique and more rugged experience for thrill-seekers. The ascent to „Zliyat Zъb“ is an adventure for experienced mountaineers with good physical preparation. The routes are steep, often exposed, and require attention and skill. The reward, however, is incomparable: from the summit, a 360-degree panorama unfolds towards the endless Rila ridges, sparkling lakes, and distant mountain massifs. The view towards Ushite (The Ears), Kupenite (The Haystacks), and the entire Malyovitsa section is mesmerizing, especially at sunrise or sunset. The most suitable time for a visit is during the summer months (July-September) when weather conditions are more stable. „Zliyat Zъb“ is an ideal destination for those seeking a true mountain challenge, away from crowded trails, and wishing to immerse themselves in the wild beauty of Rila. It offers not only a physical test but also unforgettable moments of solitude and admiration for nature.
