Konyavska Planina, often referred to as Konyovo Ridge, is one of the lower but exceptionally picturesque mountain elevations in Southwest Bulgaria, predominantly located in the Kyustendil region. Despite its modest altitude, with its highest peak Viden reaching 1329 meters, it offers wonderful opportunities for outdoor recreation and active tourism. The mountain is known for its gentle contours, extensive meadows, and lush forests, primarily deciduous species like beech, oak, and hornbeam, which transform into a true feast of colors in autumn. This makes it an ideal destination for hiking, cycling, and picnics, especially suitable for families with children and those seeking tranquility. Marked trails lead to secluded spots, offering coolness in summer and unforgettable views. From the peaks and more open parts of Konyavska Planina, panoramic vistas unfold towards the majestic neighboring mountains – Rila, Osogovo, Vitosha, as well as the vast Struma River valley. The area is home to diverse flora and fauna, making it attractive for nature lovers and photographers alike. Access to Konyavska Planina is easy, reachable from Kyustendil or from the E79 road (Struma highway). Several charming villages, nestled at its foothills and on its slopes, offer accommodation options and delicious local cuisine. A visit to Konyavska Planina is an escape from city noise, providing fresh air, natural beauty, and peace for the soul.
